A few patrons have noted that consistency in meat texture can be an issue, with some pieces being chewier than expected. Additionally, while the fries are delicious, they sometimes lose crispiness during transit, which can detract from the overall meal experience. Traffic and street parking in Barking can be a challenge, especially during peak hours, which might deter some visitors. Despite these minor drawbacks, most reviews express overall satisfaction and recommend returning for the flavorful dishes.
I love it here i get to eat all my swahili dishes. Fresh tasty chapatis, mahamri and pilau. The customer service is top notch, am impressed with hygiene and the food presentation. I highly rate them. Wherever your in barking and ready to eat some ready cooked, organic meals try them 100%🤩🥰🙌
I ordered the tuna katleesi and mixed mishkaki. Both dishes are oozing with flavour. The food came out very quickly. Would highly recommend this place 10/10.
Very friendly hospitable people serving. Food is banging and well priced. Portions are big too. Chilli and tamarind sauces are delicious! Chips were nice and crunchy. I tried the wings and shish (meshkik I think it was called) and it was delicious! Will go here again.
A real taste of the Swahili Coast in East London. Perfectly grilled mishkaki (skewered meats). Prices are reasonable given the quality. Overall, this Halal food restaurant is a must visit for adventurous food lovers or anyone craving an authentic experience.
Zanzibari street food is so basic but so unique with their choice of seasoning in its own way I ordered: (They updated their prices) 🍗Chicken Mishkaki = £6.99 🥩🍟Beef Mishkaki = £7.99 🐓2 Chicken legs = £5 Total = £19.98 Divided by 2 is £9.99 This shop opened 2 months ago after a successful 20 year run as a food truck in barking market, and its still busy as ever. Starting with the fries, they should have been crispy outside but were softened from the trapped steam after my 10min drive home. However, that didn't actually ruin them cos the mega crunchy salad acted like a back up dancer, holding its hand out to help its buddy out when eaten together. Top that off with their chilli and tamarind sauce for those spicy tangy, sour, citrus flavours to pull up to the scene and CPR's it all right back to the dance floor of flavours so much that it tastes enjoyable enough even without the meat. THEN when the charcoal grilled chicken or meat jumps in, it rounds all the others up like a team prep talk and just fires up your taste buds with this mega fusion of smoky, spicy and subtly sweet taste that makes it all really stand out to be remembered as a unique zanzibari meal experience. The only issue i had was the meat was kinda inconsistent as some were easy to bite through and some were very chewy. But that didn't matter cos for the price, size and flavour I'm coming back now often.
So we got the large beef and chips and small chicken an chips. Seasoning on point, thoroughly cooked defo worth a try a shame they didn't have the samosas as they sold out will defo try this place again solid 8 out of 10. Also reasonably price cost us £14
